look our dogwood is sprouting leaves!
it's kind of wierd out today.

.

this month...

eight years ago while living with my dad for three months after fleeing from my former spiraling life, i finaly found a pastry job and ended up meeting russell there, then he helped me move into my dream apartment and that was that and i barely even used it

seven years ago i officially moved out of my apartment into russell's apartment and the next day a tornado blew a tree down on top of my vacated apartment.

six years ago while we were living in our first shared house i started taking pictures with russells real camera, i took a whole roll of my favorite neighborhood cat of all time playing to the camera before she disappeared a few weeks later and i realized there was no film in the camera that day

five years ago i was desperately trying to find homes for a mother dog and seven puppies born on our porch, we kept two and owning a dog before i turned thirty was crossed off my list

four years ago i got fired from a job i should have quit or made work

three years ago i bought my last bag of pot from my boss, i still have the last of it and i still feel like i probably smoke too much pot

two years ago i was barely working and hating my three jobs for it

one year ago we found our house and moved in and planted trees

.

next month...

one month from now will be my 35th birthday

these are the cookies you need
they are the most perfect!

.

peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies

slightly altered from the frog commissary cookbook

1. preheat oven to 350

2. cream 3/4 cup room temperature unsalted butter, 3/4 cup creamy jif peanut butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup light brown sugar till pale yellow and fluffy
scrape the bottom of the bowl a few times between mixing

3. add 2 eggs and mix till combined

4. combine 2 cups unbleached all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda,
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
add half the flour mix to batter, mix till roughly combined
with second half of flour throw in 1 1/2 cups whole grain oats and 1 1/2 cups callebaut chocolate chips

5. bake 10-12 minutes till lightly browned, more or less according to size

variations and tips...
i think dried cherries would be really yummy, a cookie version of peanut butter and jelly
i like them just baked best of course but you can leave them out for a couple of hours before boxing them up for later and they'll be chewier
and if you like your cookies to be the same size and shape use any size cookie scoop on a silpat mat

i like to make a batch, bake off a sheet and store the remaining batter in the fridge for baking hot out of the oven cookies all week
just scoop the batter from the fridge dough and let it sit out a few minutes so they'll still spread good in the oven
the batter will keep for at least a week
or you can scoop and freeze
dethaw scooped cookies in the frige for a day, then proceed as above
